Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO)

Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO)
The Australian Government's Energy Efficiency Opportunities program (EEO) encourages large energy-using businesses to improve their energy efficiency. Any organisation obligated under the EEO legislation is required to undertake regular energy use analyses known as an energy-mass balance analysis (EMB). Conducting an EMB analysis at a site level allows an organisation to obtain a detailed understanding of energy consumption, calculating all essential energy and materials flows within a specified area. This in turn, can be useful in determining whether the energy used is actually required by this area. Mojarra’s engineering team can assist in the implementation of an EMB analysis in order to facilitate the identification of the most valuable energy efficiency opportunities. A well structured EMB typically shows a return on investment between [5; 1] and [30; 1].
Opportunity Identification and Evaluation
Many businesses covered by EEO legislation have conducted detailed Energy Use Analyses, known as an Energy Mass Balance Analysis. The EEO legislation also requires that once the analysis is complete, organisations must identify and evaluate major opportunities for energy use reduction. Many factors including process design, project costing, implementation risk, opportunity impact and regulatory requirements need to be considered in selecting and prioritising these initiatives. For the shortlisted opportunities managers will then need to develop a business case for the proposed implementation of these initiatives. Mojarra’s team of engineers and business analysts can provide assistance in identifying the highest potential opportunities and in developing business cases for their proposed implementation. Mojarra’s objective is to support the implementation of high potential initiatives through all stages of an organisations assessment and approval process.
Implementation of energy efficiency opportunities - Project Management
The Australian Government's Energy Efficiency Opportunities program encourages the implementation of short payback opportunities. Businesses consuming more than 0.5PJ of energy annually are obligated to identify, evaluate and report publicly on cost effective energy efficiency opportunities. Many of these organisations have conducted their initial assessments and are now in the process of implementing initiatives to reduce their energy use and green house gas emissions. With a large number of initiatives to be implemented, many businesses are seeking additional assistance and capacity to implement these targeted initiatives.
Mojarra’s team of energy consultants and specialist engineers can provide additional assistance in terms of management, analysis, planning, implementation and documentation of high potential initiatives. Mojarra aims to maximise the outcome of these initiatives.
